how much did you want to stay the same from Penguin Chat 3 and change when working on "The Big Update"?

The Big Update or Club Penguin moved Penguin Chat from a chat to a world. Penguin Chat only had a couple core features, including penguins, chat, accounts, emotes, dancing and throwing snowballs. Club Penguin was a full world with friends, igloos, pets, games, coins, clothing and parties.

 

When working at Club Penguin did you think things would be possible in-game like transformations or the new Puffle brains with Puffle Tricks?

Everything was possible. The question was always what the team couple do right now.

 

If you could change one thing on club penguin what would it be? - from @ZukeCp

I would have changed the buddy system. It was too small and not what the players wanted. I would have reworked the system to allow an unlimited number of friends.

 

If you could create a Puffle what type would you make it?

The black puffle has always been my favourite.

 

Can you share some secrets about the oldest Club Penguin you can think of?

Many of the of the background items are jokes. For example any room with a cake has a fire extinguisher because penguins do not have lips to blow out candles.

 

What was tricky about making Penguin Chat 3 and or Club Penguin?

The most tricky part of creating Club Penguin was developing a server platform that could scale to millions of players.

Many of the original game developers from Club Penguin now work for my new studio Hyper Hippo Games.

 

How do you feel about Club Penguin becoming more 3D? And if this is not accurate can you explain if you're allowed to what will be 3D in Club Penguin (Info on #ProjectSuperSecret)?

Well technically all the penguins have always been 3D. We just converted the 3D penguins to 2D sprites. I am excited to see 3D penguins work in the game. This will allow an incredible amount of new features and experiences. Will the world be 3D. Maybe.

Wow way too many. Working at Club Penguin was fun everyday was fun. Lots of great memories.

 

Was there any plans for a Snail Mascot in Club Penguin? And dose the Snail file still exist?

I believe my snail only appears in the missions and a couple other pieces of artwork. Most of the artists and game developers hide their characters in the backgrounds. Look for Screenhog, Flying Fox and others.

 

Do you like playing on the Club Penguin App?

The Club Penguin apps are pretty cool. My favourite is still the Sledding game

Do you feel Flash is dying out faster than it should be? And do you feel that AS3 will still be around when Flash is finally coming to end? from @CPGuyPlayer101

I believe the Flash Editor will be used for many, many more years. It is a great tool for creating content. The Flash Player is slowly phasing out. It is not the best platform for the next generation browsers or mobile devices. I see more games moving to HTML5.

 

Was Experimental Penguins a Flash AS1 game?

Yes

 

Does any original files for every Penguin Chat still exist?

Did you ever have plans to make the Snow Trekker (Snow Cat) an item in Club Penguin?

Nope. But I did have plans that you could drive it.

 

Did you have any plans for Card-Jitsu Shadow? I know the CP team has been talking about it recently, but did you create any with the team?

Sorry, I left Club Penguin before Card Jitsu Shadow.

 

Can you explain the color "Old Blue" and how it came into existence?

The old blue was the penguin colour from Penguin Chat. We changed the colour to match the Club Penguin logo.

I do not know why server jumping was not added. I left before this feature was advertised.
